Adult Basic Education Staff

Kathy moved to Bethel in 1978 and has had a variety of jobs including teacher, fisherman, painting contractor, waitress, and housekeeper.  Teaching in the Adult Basic Education program, however, has been the most rewarding job of all.  Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, bicycling, and skijoring with her dogs.  Kathy’s family includes her husband, Rick, and two college aged children, Natalie and Randy.

Leaving behind her former life as a Japanese teacher, Betsy moved to Bethel 14 years ago and has been working in the Adult Basic Education Center since her arrival. For her, it the ultimate in teaching opportunity and enjoyment.  She has surprised herself and her three grown children by becoming the math "specialist" in the center.  Reading, knitting, taking walks (preferably with a dog), and writing letters are some of her favorite activities.
