Seeking qualified applicants from: Atmautluak, Chevak, Eek, Emmonak, Hooper Bay, Kasigluk, Kotlik, Lower Kalskag, Mountain Village, Oscarville, Pilot Station, Quinhagak, St. Mary's, and Tuntutuliak.
Designed to train Personal Care Attendants (PCA) in basic care necessary to assist nurses. PCA services provide support related to an individual's activities of daily living (i.e. bathing, dressing, eating) as well as instrumental activities of daily living (i.e. shopping, laundry, light housework). Training qualifies students for state certificate of completion as personal care attendants. Class, lab and clinical practice included.
Pre-requisites: Criminal Background check required, proof of immunization to chicken pox, MMR & Hepatitis B; negative PPD within last year; and high school diploma, GED, or 10th grade reading by exam (TABE test). Students must be in good physical condition. $75.00 course fee due before class starts.
PCA training has been postponed until April 2010. Still waiting for an update for an instruction to teach this course.
