Health Care Training
Personal Care Attendant (PCA) Training – This course is designed to train Personal Care Attendants (PCAs) in the basic care necessary to assist nurses and to be efficient health care team members. It qualifies students for a State Certificate of completion as PCAs. Eighty-eight (88) hours of class, lab, and clinical practice is included. A criminal background check is required for all applicants before acceptance.
Prerequisites: Proof of immunity to chicken pox, MMR and Hepatitis B, negative PPD within the last year, H.S. Diploma or GED or 10th grade reading level by exam. Students must be in good physical condition.
Co-requisite: Health care provider CPR and First Aid

Dental Assisting Training - This Introduction to Dental Assisting training was designed to serve dental assistants in the YKHC’s Dental Assistant Apprenticeship program. It will provide an overview of dental assisting with an emphasis on “hands on lab sessions”. It will include oral health education, infection control, equipment maintenance and safety, dental anatomy, intro to basic dental procedures, identification of instruments, matrix band placement, rubber dam placement, impression procedures, gypsum lab and dental radiography. The course is designed to prepare newly hired Dental assistants for entry level positions in Bethel and village clinics.
Prerequisites: Students must be accepted into the YKHC’s Dental Assistant Apprenticeship program.
